KUALA LUMPUR: The last of the 10 entries submitted by chartered accountant Steven Mooi won the grand prize in the CIMB Bank “Il Divo Live in Kuala Lumpur” contest.
“I submitted the entry only the night before the closing date. The first nine entries were all submitted much earlier.
“My daughter, Rachel, helped me with the slogans and we were thinking of stopping at the ninth entry,” said the 53-year-old.
“Somehow 10 seemed a better number, so we rushed to submit the last entry.”
Father and daughter became fans of Il Divo after listening to the quartet two years ago.
The slogan – Their performance is like language the deaf can hear, a song the crippled can dance to and a sunset the blind can see – helped them win the grand prize which included two specially reserved tickets worth RM2,000 each for the Il Divo concert on Jan 16.
The prize also comes with a two-night stay in a luxurious suite at the Shangri-La Hotel here, dinner for two at the hotel’s award winning Lafite restaurant, being chauffer-driven in a specially arranged BMW from the hotel to the concert venue and two invitations to an exclusive evening event with Il Divo on Jan 12.
CIMB Group head of group corporate resources Hamidah Naziadin said: “It was not easy selecting the grand prize winner. We had about 5,000 entries and we had to ensure that all entries were our customers.”
The contest required the participants to answer three questions about the bank and complete a slogan on why they want to watch the concert.
Twenty five entrants won two concert tickets (worth RM1,000 each) and another 25 two concert tickets worth RM500 each.
The names of the winners are published in the bank’s website at www.cimbbank.com.my
CIMB Bank is the presenter of the contest, while The Star is the official newspaper and Shangri-La Hotel the official hotel.
