PETALING JAYA: There will be no New Year countdown or spectacular fireworks display at Dataran Merdeka or KLCC Suria, but the party will go on as usual at almost every other regular venue.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the Dataran Merdeka celebrations had been called off out of respect for Hari Raya Haji, which falls on the same day.
