Catch Il Divo live in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Operatic super group Il Divo’s concert at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, on Jan 16 will kickstart Malaysia’s entertainment programme for Visit Malaysia Year 2007. It will also mark Il Divo's start to its 2007 Asian-Australian tour. 

The quartet comprising Carlos Marin, Urs Buhler, David Miller and Sebastian Izambard has already conquered the rest of the world and is set to continue its rise to stardom in 2007.

“We admire the phenomenal success of these four of different countries, backgrounds, cultures and languages,” CIMB Group Head of Group Corporate Resources Hamidah Naziadin said at a press conference yesterday to announce its sponsorship of the concert. 

She said the sponsorship was part of the group’s contribution to bring world-class music for the enjoyment of Malaysians. 

Il Divo’s albums Il Divo and Ancora have already sold millions worldwide and the quartet’s latest Siempre is already doing well.  

Also associated with the concert is terrestrial television station ntv7. 

“Our tie-up with the Il Divo concert is the first chapter of an exciting next year,” said ntv7 chief executive officer Amrin Awaluddin. 

“We will continue to invest in quality and world-class entertainment programmes that will blend well with the urban culture of our loyal and discerning viewers.” 

The station will be airing two specials – Il Divo Post Christmas Special 2006 and Il Divo Ancora Siempre – this Sunday and on New Year's Day. 

Il Divo is being brought in by Arianna Event Management. The sponsors for the event are Tourism Malaysia, Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, ntv7, BMW, Channel V and SonyBMG.
