KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd is pushing ahead with its coal-fired power plant at Silam in Lahad Datu district in line with Sabah’s five-fuel source National Energy Policy to diversify its energy sources.
“It will be operational by 2010 and our target is for the long run,” said Abu Safian Talib, managing director of SESB, a subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd that owns about 80% of the build-own-operate-and-transfer plant. The remaining 20% is held by the state government.
