SEREMBAN: The alertness of a security guard at a shopping centre here led to the arrest of a man and the seizure of two guns.

Mohd Noor Hashim, 68, a senior security guard at Plaza Ampangan said yesterday that two men came to the shopping centre at around noon.

They entered a goldsmith shop before leaving, and returning shortly after.

“I told my colleague to be on standby while I went for Friday prayers.

“The two were still there when I returned. I talked to them as an employee of the goldsmith shop called the police,” he said.

“While talking to them, I saw something which looked like a weapon wrapped in newspaper placed in a bag one of them was carrying,” he said.

State CID chief Asst Comm Huzir Mohamed said the two men fled when police arrived.

Police managed to capture one of them and seized the two guns.
