SUBANG JAYA: Operators of shopping centres can bring cheer to the disabled during festive seasons by offering them special discounts, said Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Deputy Prime Minister.

“If they cannot afford to give away the goods free, they can at least sell certain items at special discounts,” said Rosmah, who is also the acting president of the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti).

Various other parties, she added, could also work with non-governmental organisations to reduce the burden of the disabled during the festive season.

She told this to reporters after handing over cash and Hari Raya goodies to 63 disabled people at the Mydin hypermarket in Subang Jaya.

Each of the disabled received RM100, two sets of Hari Raya clothes and school supplies.

Rosmah said that Bakti, from its annual budget, had allocated RM22,000 to be given out as donations. – Bernama
