KUALA LUMPUR: The Network of East Asian Think-Tanks (NEAT) has recommended to leaders of the Asean+3 countries to look into establishing a common basket of currencies, which will minimise problems arising from a peg on the US dollar.
It said initial focus should be on which currencies to be included and their share in the basket, followed by ways to use the basket to stabilise East Asian currencies as well as the possibility of having an Asian dollar market.
