KUALA LUMPUR: More than 18,000 contractors and sub-contractors were either paid late or have yet to receive payment for completed work totalling RM23.7bil since 2000, Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said here on Monday.
“This is a very huge sum, about 14% of the allocation for development projects under the 9th Malaysia Plan,” he told reporters after opening the Malaysian Construction Sector Review 2005/2006 and Outlook seminar.
