HFMD duo flown to Sibu hospital

KUCHING: Two children seriously ill with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) were airlifted from Miri to Sibu Hospital on Thursday. 

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan said the patients were a 13-month-old boy and a seven-month-old girl. 

In addition, 17 children were admitted to hospitals yesterday, bringing to 36 the number of HFMD patients currently warded. 

Dr Chan said 66 new cases were reported throughout the state yesterday. 

Miri division had the highest number of new cases with 17, followed by Sibu (13) and Kuching and Bintulu (11 each). The cumulative number of cases now stands at 12,772.
