KUALA LUMPUR: A panel of inquiry has been set up by the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) to investigate alleged police violence against protesters during the demonstration over the electricity tariff increases in front of the KLCC on May 28.
Commissioner Datuk Choo Siew Kioh said the panel was set up because of public interest in the case and not due to the threat by Suaram to cut ties with Suhakam until it conducted an inquiry on the incident.
