PENANG: To protect prized durians from cracking open as they ripen and fall from trees, farmers in Balik Pulau here tie the fruits to tree trunks with raffia string.
Durian farmer Chang Eng Fatt, 33, who owns a farm with about 100 trees, said he only tied “branded” durians to the trunks.
