The defamation suit filed by MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu against the publisher of Tamil daily Malaysia Nanban and two other defendants will proceed, as the parties failed to reach an out of court settlement.

Judge Datuk Abdul Malik Ishak fixed Sept 21 for case management in his chambers yesterday. Samy Vellu filed the suit against Penerbitan Sahabat (M) Sdn Bhd, and directors Nooruthen Sikandar Batcha and Kumanan Pupathi Athimulan, alleging that the articles carried by the daily implied that he had “cheated and pawned” the Indian community. – Bernama
