KUALA LUMPUR: Suaram is considering cutting off ties with the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) for its failure to act on allegations of human rights violations.
Its executive director Yan Swee Seng said this would be proposed to other civil society NGOs at a meeting next week, as a message to Suhakam that they were unhappy with its inaction, particularly in the alleged police violence against protesters of the electricity tariff rise.
