Arbitrator jailed over illegal petition

PUTRAJAYA: Arbitrator Hardial Singh Sekhon was jailed eight months by the Court of Appeal for contempt of court because he started an election petition without the court’s approval six years ago.  

Court of Appeal Justices Gopal Sri Ram, Hashim Mohd Yusoff and James Foong dismissed Hardial Singh’s appeal against a High Court decision sentencing the 76-year-old veteran to 12 months' jail for the offence.
