THERE are school fees and there are “optional fees”. The Education Ministry has advised parent-teacher associations (PTAs) to check with the state education departments if they are not sure about the matter.
Explaining the different fees, Deputy Education Minister Datuk Hon Choon Kim said payments that cannot be regarded as “school fees” are those made for PTAs, computer classes, additional classes, school activities, school magazines and writing materials.
