SIBU: Seven people had a close shave when their bus slipped backwards into the Rejang River after stopping short of the deck of a ferry at the Durin terminal.

The unidentified driver said only the front wheels of the bus were on the deck when the ferry started to move away in the 3pm incident on Saturday.

He tried to alert the ferry operator but failed and the ferry moved further away.

“I tried to reverse the bus but the wheels got stuck. I asked the passengers to get out as water had started to come into the back portion,” he said.
