PUTRAJAYA: All 488 kindergartens in Sarawak will be closed for two weeks with immediate effect to stop the spread of hand, foot and mouth (HFM) disease, which is believed to have claimed the lives of three children.
The closure order was made as the number of children infected by the disease had escalated of late, with 942 cases recorded between Jan 1 and Feb 18, against 270 in the corresponding period last year.
