DATUK Seri S. Samy Vellu brought discipline to the MIC after taking over the reins in 1979, and there is still a need for the president to continue to lead the party, which currently has more than 700,000 members in 4,000 branches, says Datuk G. Palanivel.
The party vice-president said the MIC would continue to be the sole representative to protect the Indian community’s education, culture, language and traditions, Tamil Nesan reported.
