KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair 2006 has been extended for another three days due to overwhelming response.

The fair, which saw MAS and participating travel agents offering about five million tickets with irresistible discounts, was scheduled to end yesterday.

MAS regional manager for Malaysia Bahrom Md Yatim said the extension was to cater to thousands of people who had not been able to make their purchases.

“By last Thursday, we had exceeded our 2005 Travel Fair sales of RM115mil and we arecontinuing to get encouraging demand from customers,” he said.

He was confident that sales in the next three days would further contribute towards achieving this year’s sales target.

He however declined to say what the target revenue for this year’s fair was.

As of yesterday, over 253,000 people had purchased tickets.

The most sought after tickets were for intra-Asean routes, although the Kuala Lumpur-London sector remained the biggest revenue earner.

The offers covered 85 routes and 64 types of Golden Holiday packages to 69 internationaldestinations.

The tickets are valid for travel from last Wednesday to June 30.
