PETALING JAYA: Efforts to make police personnel sensitive to international human rights standards will come to naught if the Police Lock-Up Rules are not amended to reflect these standards, said Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) chairman Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman.
He said four years ago, after its inquiry into the treatment of demonstrators along the Kesas Highway, Suhakam had recommended that the rules be reviewed.
