Health staff jailed over fake MCs

KUANTAN: A district health department employee was jailed three months by a magistrate’s court here for producing four fake medical certificates (MCs). 

Zainal Abidin Omar, 33, pleaded guilty to producing MCs purportedly from Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital at the Kuantan health department office about 10.30am on Jan 4 this year. 

Magistrate G. Ramesh ordered the sentence to commence from the date of arrest on Jan 12. 

In another court, a self-employed man claimed trial to a charge of having a forged outpatient department rubber-stamp of the same hospital. 

Muhammad Adha Atan @ Abu Bakar, 36, pleaded not guilty to committing the offence at a house in Block C, Perkampungan Chenderawasih 14, Bukit Setongkol, about 2am on Jan 13. 

Magistrate Che Noralashikin Abdul Razak fixed bail at RM3,000 in one surety, and Feb 9 for mention.
