No bias against women, says Ng

PUTRAJAYA: The Finance Ministry has maintained there is no discrimination against female entrepreneurs applying for bank loans, but women still feel a certain bias, Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen said. 

“For instance, they feel that bank managers will not take them seriously if they are not dressed in power suits,” she told reporters yesterday after announcing the launch of the first ever women's small- and medium-size enterprise (SME) association in the country. “It’s to do with image.”
