1994 – Idea mooted for an online edition of The Star newspaper. 

1995 – Launch of The Star Online. Ad-hoc staff formed to maintain website. 

1999 – I. Star established to develop and manage The Star Online. 

  • Launch of Star Channel, a premier financial information service. 

  • Free web-community services made available to users. 

    2000 – The Star Online Mobile Edition is launched, catering to Palm/Win CE users 

    The Star Online goes through a major revamp and is launched with a new look and added features. 

  • Launch of Star-Motoring channel. 

  • Star-Space, a property and real estate channel is launched. 

  • MyStar membership service introduced. 

  • The Star Online is honoured with the “Most Popular Local Website” award at the Malaysia Internet Awards, @my 2000.  

    2001 Purple Sofa, catering exclusively for teenagers and young adults, goes online.  

  • StarJobs, a job recruitment portal, made available to registered users. 

  • Entertainment portal eCentral, incorporating restaurant database Dining Out, makes it debut on the Net.  

  • Launch of The Star Online’s IT portal TechCentral. 

  • Weekly e-mail alerts exclusively for MyStar members introduced. 

  • The Star Online is voted the “Most Popular Local Website” at the Malaysia Internet Awards @my 2001, for the second year running. 

    2002 Classifieds Online Booking, a one-stop centre for classified ads, goes online. 

    2003 Mobile Reloads, a service that allows users to top up their mobile phone credit online, is made available. 

  • Kuali.com, a one-stop culinary website, is launched. 

  • AllMalaysia.info, an information portal set up with the aim to be an online guide and gateway to Malaysia, is launched on Aug 31. 

    2004 The beta version of The Star e-paper, an exact visual duplicate of the newspaper, is introduced. 

  • Launch of the e-browse version of our e-paper service, accessible for a minimal fee. 

  • StarComm mobile services (news alerts, KLSE share prices, Gaming results etc) is launched. 

  • Football Everyday, a football portal, albeit with an English Premier League slant, goes online.  

    2005 RSS (Really Simple Syndication), a popular technology employed by websites and weblogs to push content directly to users, is incorporated in The Star Online. 

  • 10th Anniversary of The Star Online 

  • New version of StarJobs is launched.
