IPOH: A managing director who was twice issued with warrants of arrest to appear in court over a case of non-payment of wages to his Bangladeshi workers has died of heart failure.

V. Manohran, 51, of construction company Linsun (M) Sdn Bhd, died at Hospital Columbia Asia in Seremban on Tuesday.

His eldest son Kanna, who confirmed this, said Manohran had a heart attack and was admitted to the hospital on Sunday.

On July 2 last year, a Sessions Court here ordered Linsun to pay the 115 workers RM839,936.55 with 8% interest.

The amount was for work done between June 2002 and January 2003.

The company failed to pay up.

On March 1 this year, Sessions Court judge Ridwan Ibrahim issued a warrant of arrest against Manohran for failing to appear in court to explain why he had not paid the workers.

On April 25, Ridwan issued a second warrant of arrest against Manohran to compel him to be present in court.

The case was due for hearing on Dec 15.
