STIFF competition has prompted Tamil film producers in India to put up giant-sized billboards featuring sexy movie scenes at busy road junctions to attract moviegoers.
The billboards have, however, been blamed for heavy traffic congestion and road accidents, according to a report in Tamil Nesan.
It said social organisations in Chennai had lodged police reports against movie producers for exhibiting obscene and sexy posters in the city.
Chennai city police chief Commissioner Nataraj was quoted as saying that action had been taken against movie production manager Pandian for putting up a giant poster featuring a sexy scene involving actor J.S. Suriya and actress Nayan Thara.
The police chief had also issued an order to take action against all other producers who exhibited posters or banners depicting sexy poses.
Both Tamil Nesan and Malaysia Nanban reported that the past president of the Malaysian Medical Association, Datuk Dr N. Arumugam, had been elected World Medical Association president at its recent annual general meeting held in Santiago, Chile.
Dr Arumugam has done Malaysia proud with the recognition bestowed by the world medical body, said MMA president Datuk Dr Teoh Siang Chin.
