KUALA LUMPUR: Former deputy prime minister Tun Ghafar Baba remains in stable condition, Pantai Medical Centre consultant cardiologist Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Abdul Hamid said.
He is conscious and continues to be able to respond to his children, he said in a brief statement.
Ghafar, 80, has been warded at the hospital since last Thursday after he was transferred there from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre where he was admitted for chest pains.
Ghafar's son Mohd Asri said his father was now less dependent on an oxygen mask to breathe easily.
His condition is stable but we will not make any further statements. Let the doctor and the hospital issue them.
Among the VIPs who visited Ghafar yesterday were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Mustapa Mohamed and former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin. Bernama
