PENANG: Nearly losing his life to dengue fever has not deterred Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) entomologist Prof Abu Hassan Ahmad from continuing his research on mosquito control.

Affectionately called the “Mosquito Man” by his friends, he was conducting mosquito sampling in several construction sites in 1997 when he was infected with the virus.
