KUALA LUMPUR: For just RM49.99 you can go to either Chiang Mai or Phnom Penh under a low-fare promotion to these new AirAsia destinations next month.
The no-frills airline is giving away 10,000 seats to each city from the KL International Airport to mark its expansion in Thailand and Cambodia.
AirAsia Group CEO Datuk Tony Fernandes said the airline would begin daily flights to Chiang Mai – its fourth Thai destination after Bangkok, Phuket, and Haadyai – on Oct 20.
Its daily flights to Phnom Penh would start on Nov 1, he said in a statement here.
He said the introductory low fares go on sale from today, right up to Oct 12, for flights up to March 25 next year through bookings via www. airasia. com.
The tickets for the 10,000 introductory seats are going for RM49.99 each, or Bhat599 (to Chiang Mai) and US$15 (to Phnom Penh).
Fernandes said the airline was the only airline to offer direct flights between KLIA and Chiang Mai.
He added that the upcoming Bangkok-Hanoi flight by Thai AirAsia (the company's sister airline in Thailand) from Oct 17 also meant that the group would be covering most of the major cities in South-east Asia.
