PETALING JAYA: ExxonMobil has committed itself to sponsor, for a third year, 40,000 copies of The Star, which will benefit 54 schools .
ExxonMobil Production Projects general manager Hareesh Pillai said he was pleased that The Star’s Newspaper in Education (NiE) pullout had expanded to include Science and Mathematics as it made “a good fit with our objective of promoting interest in science and technology among young people.”
Under the Star-NiE sponsorship scheme, free news-papers have been distributed to schools over the past eight years.
Pillai presented a cheque for RM25,000 to The Star's group chief editor Datuk Wong Sulong at Menara Star yesterday.
Wong thanked ExxonMobil for its continuous support, saying: “We appreciate ExxonMobil for being a sponsor of our NiE programme.”
