GOMBAK: The Sultan of Johor’s daughter was among 3,129 students who received their scrolls at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Convocation yesterday.

Paduka Puteri Tunku Masera Sultan Iskandar, who obtained an honours degree in political science, said it was important to strike a balance between studies and extra-curricular activities.

“Students should attend all their classes. To release stress, I played hockey,” said Tunku Masera, 26, who had represented IIUM in hockey in inter-varsity games.

On her future plans, she said: “I plan to study for a Master’s degree in either International Relations or Public Policy but I haven’t decided where I will do it yet.”

Tunku Masera had earlier received her scroll from IIUM's constitutional head, the Sul-tan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Her parents Sultan Iskandar and Sultanah Zanariah Tunku Ahmad were present to share her joy.

In his speech, Sultan Ahmad Shah said the graduation ceremony was the most exciting, rewarding and memorable event for students.

He also urged the university to focus on research.
