Indon killed by tree felled by cousin

KUANTAN: A 35-year-old Indonesian man died after he was hit on the head by a tree, after it was felled by his cousin at Ladang Kemasul here. 

State CID chief Asst Comm T. Narenasagaran said Zulkifli Rosli had gone to visit his cousin at a kongsi on Monday and while looking for him was hit by the falling tree. 

He added that the cousin only realised that someone was hit when he heard a shout. 

Zulkifli who had a cracked skull was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. 

In another incident, a suspected drug addict was detained after policemen found him sleeping inside a chicken coop. 

State narcotics unit chief Deputy Supt Abdul Razak Md Zin said members of the narcotics unit of the Bentong district police were conducting an operation in Felda Kampung Sertik at 10.30pm on Monday when they heard noises from the coop. 

Upon checking, they found the 31-year-old addict sleeping inside the coop. 

The officers also recovered three tubes of what was believed to be heroin on him. 

In another case, two inmates of the Cheroh drug rehabilitation centre in Raub were found missing during a morning drill at 6.30am on Monday. 

One of them was later caught at the Raub bus terminal about 5.30pm the same day, while the other was detained about 7.45pm in Sungai Koyan. 

The inmates, aged 28 and 31, had been at the centre for about a month.
