KUCHING: A Hornbill Skyways helicopter with four people on board has gone missing in the remote Long Singut area of the Sarawak-Kalimantan border in Ulu Balleh, Kapit Division.

The helicopter was chartered for an aerial mapping trip and it lost communication with the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) at about 2:30pm.

State Deputy Commissioner of Police SAC I Abang Wahap Abang Julai said the DCA notified the state police operation room of the missing helicopter at about 2:45pm.

He said the police air wing had been despatched to help in the search and rescue operations initiated by the DCA.

Long Singut is only accessible by boat on a two-day journey from Kapit in the upper Rejang basin.
