KOTA KINABALU: People scrambled onto rooftops, climbed up trees and helped one another to safer ground when the farming town of Telipok, about 22km from here, was hit by its worst flood in 50 years on Sunday night.
And they remained in their places of refuge until the 2m-high floodwater that followed 12 hours of downpour began to recede.
