SUNGAI SIPUT: A trip to a wedding in Kuala Kangsar for four friends ended in tragedy when three of them were killed in a head-on collision with a factory bus.

The fourth passenger, Wan Suria Haris Wan Ibrahim, 24, had head injuries and has been warded at the hospital here.

The deceased were 20-year-old Shah Rizal Johari, who was driving the Perodua Kancil, Hazi Fandi Zakaria, 25, and Nur Hafizah Abu Bakar, 18, who is the daughter of a police lance corporal.

It is learnt that Wan Suria had driven the car earlier but changed places with Shah Rizal when she felt sleepy.

Hazi Fandi and Nur Hafizah were the back seat passengers.

Public Order and Traffic Chief Supt Hamza Taib said the four were returning to Ipoh after attending the wedding when the incident took place at the 31.3rd kilometre of the Ipoh-Kuala Kangsar road at 4.30pm yesterday.

The bus, carrying 28 factory workers from the Kanthan Baru industrial estate, was on its way to Kuala Kangsar.

Hamza said the deceased were from Ipoh while Wan Suria is from Kota Baru, Kelantan.

It was believed that the four, all factory workers, lived in Taman Perpaduan in Ipoh
