PETALING JAYA: Tremors were felt in some parts of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, including in Putrajaya, after an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale rocked north-west Sumatra yesterday.

However, the earthquake, which occurred at about 9.51am, did not pose a tsunami threat, said Meteorological Services Department seismology division director Low Kong Chiew.
