PENANG: Cheer 2005 provided its first surprise of the competition when SMJK Ave Maria Convent Ipoh’s junior team E-Lektra put up a spirited performance to emerge northern region champion, beating the school’s senior team Titans which is the defending overall champion.
E-Lektra’s victory yesterday was deemed an upset at Cheer 2005 North which featured seven teams from Ipoh and Penang in the second northern region cheerleading event at Dewan Tunku in Komtar.
