KUCHING: A trawler which left here 11 days ago with an eight-man crew has been found at Sarikei – without anyone on board.

On Sunday, the family of the boat owner lodged a report at the Santubong police station after several fishermen found the trawler nets abandoned at sea, near Pulau Burong.

The police then mounted a sea and aerial search for both the trawler and the missing crewmen, which included seven Indonesians.

Following a tip-off, they rushed to a wharf at Sarikei where they found the trawler anchored yesterday morning.

The family of 42-year-old trawler owner Poh Tze Teck, lodged the report after his fishermen friends found his trawler net abandoned at sea on Saturday.

These fishermen told the family that they last had contact with Poh on Friday.
