NEW YORK: Malaysia will need RM2.9bil to fully implement a sustainable forest management (SFM) programme that includes research, infrastructure and human resources development.
Because of the immense costs involved, Malaysia believes that financing of SFM cannot be discussed within the context of national boundaries alone, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Adenan Satem told a high-level ministerial meeting of the United Nations Forum on Forests.
