PETALING JAYA: Two earthquakes hit Sumatra yesterday, with the stronger measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale recorded in West Sumatra at about 1.05pm, but there was no threat of a tsunami.
The epicentre of the first quake was located in the Nias region some 465km south-west of Kuala Lumpur and 275km north-west of Padang, Sumatra.
