KUALA LUMPUR: The oldest bookshop in Sentul is now an unprepossessing place. Its dark wooden interior opens smack on to busy dusty Jalan Sentul, a danger to any bibliophile emerging with nose buried in a book.
Once locals thronged here to buy books, magazines and songbooks to sing along to the latest hits at the nearby Mido cinema. Now, still stacked to the ceiling with books, magazines and newspapers, its no longer a bookshop. But it is a surviving local news distribution business and dwelling place.
