SYDNEY: Islam Hadhari (Civilisational Islam) is not an approach to pacify the West or to seek approval from non-Muslims for a more friendly and gentle image of the religion, said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
“It is compatible with modernity and yet firmly rooted in the noble values and injunctions of Islam. It is an approach that values substance and not form,” said the Prime Minister in his keynote address to the Asia Society of Australia here yesterday.
