KUALA LUMPUR: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry has taken over the task of monitoring the production and distribution of food items bearing the halal logo.
The task was formerly the responsibility of the Islamic Development Department (Jakim), which now will merely issue halal certificates and accompany the ministrys enforcement team on inspection rounds.
