Erra Fazira still popular after tying knot

PETALING JAYA: The gorgeous Erra Fazira is still a popular box-office star in Malaysia, proving critics wrong that marrying into pop group KRU's family would hurt her career.

The former Miss Malaysia has got many offers for this year but she is only keen to act in a handful of movies.

The latest offer is Qabil Qushir Qabil Igam, produced by Sonata Pictures and scripted by Azlina Pawan, where Erra would act alongside husband Yusry KRU, Hans Isaac and Ziana Zain.

Erra: Her production house Erra Fazira Entertainment will soon shoot the episodes of a fashion-cum-game show called 'Celebrity Ek'.

And no, it's not another Hindi movie. It only sounds like Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham, a Sharukh Khan starred movie that was a hit. The storyline is very different.

“It's a love story which harps on family values and focuses on the life of a drug addict who threw away everything he had because of the habit. I play the faithful girlfriend who sacrifices everything for him. However, there is still some Hindi influence in the movie.

“It will be made in collaboration with the National Anti-Drug Association,” said Erra, adding that the movie would be shot in Lenggong, Perak.

She said that this was the second time she would be playing as Ziana's sister in a movie. “All the four of us are excited as the film has a sweet touch of romance to each character though the ending is rather sad.”

According to Erra, movie offers keep coming her way even after she turns them down.

“Although I have no heart to refuse offers from friends who are now TV producers, in some cases I have to because I am either committed to other movies or don't like doing redundant roles,” said the singer-cum-actress-cum-model.

Erra said she had turn down the offer to act in Pesona Non Grata, which will be produced by Nizarman Sdn Bhd, as the shooting would be done mostly in Bangkok.

“It's sad that I can't do this movie as it has an intriguing storyline. It's one of the most challenging characters ever offered to me,” said Erra who was last seen in Potret Mistik.

Erra is still a busy bee despite her decision to go slow down this year.

“I want to concentrate on my production house, Erra Fazira Entertainment. There are a couple of programmes that we intend to do but decided to do Celebrity Ek first, which is a fashion-cum-game show involving celebrities.

“We are shooting the episodes soon and hopefully this programme would be screened over RTM,” said the actress who has appeared in more than 25 movies.

As for her singing career, Erra will be recording her fourth album with Sony Music this year and is hoping that it will be a success. – By ZIEMAN
