KUCHING: Some 25,000 titles of English and Chinese books will be featured in the city’s biggest book fair at Permata Trade Centre here beginning Friday.

The organiser, Popular Book Co (M) Sdn Bhd, expects about 15,000 visitors to the weeklong event.

The company’s operations manager Siew Sheue-Liang said discounts of up to 50% would be offered for the books, revision materials, stationery, CDs and VCDs during the exhibition.

“Some of the books on display at the fair are not available here,” he added.

He said Popular Book Co, which now has 41 outlets nationwide, received good response during a similar fair in Kota Kinabalu last year.

Siew said an average of 25,000 people a month visited the company outlet in Tun Jugah Centre.

The company donated books entitled The Great Works of New Chinese Literature in Malaysia to 24 schools here on Monday.
