KUALA LUMPUR: Many keen travellers took advantage of the Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair 2005 two-day extension.

A check at Reliance Travel in Sungei Wang Plaza here yesterday, showed shoppers enquiring about cheap airfares and travel packages offered by the airline.

The outlet's senior ticketing consultant Wong Lai Kuan said the response was overwhelming with plenty of enquiries made for long haul routes.

Wong said places like Bangkok and Hong Kong were the more popular Asian holiday destinations.

Customer Alvin Yong said he could not make it to the fair at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Seri Kembangan because he was working.

“If I wasn't working, I would have gone to the fair despite it being terribly crowded,” said Yong, who purchased a tour package to Shanghai for himself and two colleagues here yesterday.

Also taking the opportunity to scout for the best deals were couple Wong Yoon Fui, 32 and Wong Pooi Fun, 27.

“We didn't got all the way to Mines because it was too far for us,” said Pooi Fun, who was enquiring about cheap tour packages to Beijing for herself and her husband.

Today is the last day for those interested in shopping for special promotional airfares and travel packages.

List of participating agents and other information is available at http://travelfair.malaysiaairlines.com/agents.htm.
