PENANG: Waterfalls in the island are drying up because the hills are being extensively cleared and the streams steered to irrigate farms, said Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) Penang branch chairman Kanda Kumar.

He was commenting on a report in The Star yesterday on the Titi Kerawang waterfall in Teluk Bahang and Chin Farm waterfall in Batu Ferringhi drying up.
