PETALING JAYA: A part-time male fashion model was seriously injured when he was shot by two armed men in front of his house in Bandar Sri Damansara here yesterday morning.
The 25-year-old model, who had returned home at 4am, was opening the front gate when a shot was fired in his direction. The shot missed him and struck the wall of the double-storey terrace house.
When the freelance catwalk model turned around a man rushed towards him with a pistol and threatened to kill him. The model, however, managed to grab the pistol and threw it way.
A scuffle ensued before a second gunman turned up and fired two shots at the model.
The shots struck the model on his left shoulder and elbow. Upon hearing the gunshots, the model’s two housemates rushed out of the house.
A neighbourhood security guard also arrived at the scene.
The two assailants then ran to a car, believed to be stolen and having fake number plates, which was parked near a row of shoplots 150m away and fled.
The model was rushed to the Selayang Hospital.
Petaling Jaya CID chief Supt Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said police have classified the case as attempted murder.
“We have recovered a Browning pistol, silencer and a magazine with 12 bullets. We also found a spent shell at the scene, which we believe was fired from the gun of the second suspect,” he added.
“Initial checks revealed that the model did not have any loan shark problems or any known enemies,” Supt Abdul Rahman added.
Anyone with information on the incident or the car with the number plate WJC 4509, can contact the district police headquarters at 03-7956 2222 or the nearest police station.
