Sam Hui’s sons and brother to join concerts

PETALING JAYA: It will be a family affair at the “Sam Hui Live in Malaysia 2005” concerts on Feb 19 and 20.

His sons, Ryan and Scott, and his older brother, Ricky, are scheduled to perform alongside him on both nights.

They also performed with him during his series of comeback concerts in Hong Kong last year.

Sam’s guest artistes comprise the 12 Girls Band and Hong Kong actress Myolie Wu.

The 12 Girls Band, formed in China in 2001, has been enthralling audiences with its brand of fusion music played with Chinese classical instruments such as the erhu (bowed string instrument), pipa (plucked string instrument), guzheng (Chinese zither) and dizi (Chinese flute).

One of the songs Sam is slated to perform with them is the title track from his 1990 martial arts flick Swordsman, titled Chong Hoi Yai Sing Siu (A Single Laughter in the Sea), composed by the late James Wong.

Wu is best known for her role as Yan Yan in the TVB serial Golden Faith.

It has been said that there will be another surprise guest artiste making an appearance.

There is no word as to who it will be but rumours are circulating that it could be any of Sam’s guests in his six-night Chinese New Year concerts in Hong Kong, scheduled to kick off on Feb 8.

Andy Lau, Sandy Lam and Leo Ku are among the big names who have confirmed their participation in Hong Kong.

“Sam Hui Live in Malaysia 2005” is jointly organised by Galaxy Production with Da Ma Cai (Pan Malaysian Pools) as the presenter.

988, which is operated by The Star, is the official radio station.

The concerts will be held at the Bukit Jalil Outdoor Stadium.
