KUALA LUMPUR: Companies should consider it “a kind of national service” if they form a consortium to clean and beautify Sungai Bunos, Sungai Gombak and Sungai Klang which flow through the heart of the city.

“It will be an entirely private sector initiative. I am sure the companies will not mind contributing towards making the rivers, and Kuala Lumpur in general, clean and beautiful again,” said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi told reporters after launching a book called Kuala Lumpur, Corporate Capital Cultural Cornucopia at the Islamic Arts Museum here yesterday.
