KOTA KINABALU: A Philippines government special envoy is in Sabah to appeal for a one-month extension before Malaysia begins a crackdown against his country’s nationals who are staying illegally in the state.
With less than a week before the Jan 31 expiry of an amnesty for illegal immigrants, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s special representative Nur Jaafar said the one-month extension would enable Philippines authorities to be better prepared in receiving deported Filipino nationals from Sabah.
